Portland Museum of Art promotes young artists at RSU 14

Congratulations to Layla DiFiore and Adele Popova!
Adele Popova is a first-grade student at Windham Primary School. Her artwork entitled Raccoon was chosen to represent her school at the Youth Art Month exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art by Mrs. Greeley. The medium of the artwork is chalk and the objective of the project was to explore the medium of chalk and to add expression. Adele created expression with both the tilt of the head and the eyes of her raccoon.
Layla DiFiore is a second-grade student at Windham Primary School. Her Architecture piece done in marker and watercolor will also be featured at the Youth Art Month exhibit. Layla designed her own building using space, shape and bright colors!
The work will be on display from February 26, 2020 through March 29, 2020 on the lower ground floor of the PMA. The Portland Museum of Art Youth Art Month reception will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2020. Layla and Adele will be honored at the reception. WPS community is very proud of both of them!

Friendly Reminder about Food Use at WPS

I wanted to remind our Windham Primary School families that we are unable to accept unsolicited food for classrooms. This includes candy attached to Valentines cards. While we appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity, we need to be attentive to the large number of students in our building who are presently impacted by food allergies. Teachers may request families at times for specific food items for a learning activity. Items in these situations have been screened by our school nurse to ensure that the food/activity is safe for our students. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and your continued support of Windham Primary School.
